Lampi, the name of the island, or Lanbi (လန်ပိ) comes from Moken word 'Lebi' which is the name of one Moken subgroup who live here. It's called Kyunn Tann Shey in Myanmar and Sullivan's Island in English.

While traveling, I really enjoy asking the place name which is the easiest way to learn about its background briefly. But for this cruise, there are more than a hundred islands' names, such a hard work. I can't remember them all, so I have to write down. How to make it less confusing, I have to take the pictures. But it isn't easy at all when taking small photos in my smartphone to ask the crew.

เวลาไปไหน ผมชอบถามชื่อสถานที่ เพราะมันช่วยให้เรารู้จักความเป็นมาของสถานที่นั้นแบบสั้นๆ ง่ายๆ สำหรับคราวนี้ ผมเจอศึกหนัก เพราะมีชื่อเกาะให้รู้จักสมอยากเป็นร้อย พอจำไม่ไหวก็ใช้จด แต่จะจดยังไงให้ไม่สับสน ก็ต้องถ่ายรูปประกอบ แต่มันก็ไม่ง่ายนักเวลาเอารูปเล็กๆ ที่เราถ่ายในโทรศัพท์มือถือไปถามชื่อเกาะจากลูกเรือ

I need to draw them in my sketchbook, taking the pictures as above and record the time, then ask the crew to write down their names in Myanmar.

ผมต้องใช้วิธีวาดรูปเกาะที่เห็นตรงหน้าในสมุดจด จดเวลาที่วาดและถ่ายรูปไว้ แบบสองภาพข้างบน แล้วเอาไปถามลูกเรือให้ช่วยเขียนชื่อเกาะเป็นภาษาเมียนมา

Finally, I have to recheck it with the detailed map Aw Sa Kar gives me on the last day of the trip.

แล้วเอามาเทียบ ตรวจสอบซ้ำกับแผนที่เกาะ:ซึ่งออสะกาส่งไฟล์ให้ผมในวันสุดท้ายของการเดินทาง
