Tide น้ำขึ้นน้ำลง

When we leave Tar Yar island, we know that today next activity is kayaking at the river we went yesterday evening.

I'm so curious how can we do that in a small stream at the south end of Long Beach where we fought with sandflies yesterday. 

"Surely we can now at the high tide" 

But I didn't expect to see such a big contrast from the low tide like this...

พอเรือออกจากเกาะตายา เรารู้ว่า กิจกรรมถัดไปวันนี้ คือ จะไปพายเรือคายัคกันที่แม่น้ำเมื่อเย็นวาน

ผมนึกสงสัย จะพายยังไง นั่นมันลำธารชัดๆ เมื่อนึกถึงลำน้ำสายเล็กทางใต้หาดยาวที่เพิ่งไปรบกับริ้นทรายกันมาเมื่อวาน

"ช่วงนี้น้ำขึ้น พายได้"

ผมก็ไม่คิดว่า ที่นั่นจะแตกต่างจากเมื่อวานตอนน้ำลง ได้มากขนาดนี้..

No longer the vast Long Beach, no more all my private pools, the sea water is high up to the she-oak lines. I have no doubt that all the serpent's trails yesterday were common sand ripples on the sea floor. A small stream now becomes a great wide river.

ที่นี่ ไม่เหลือหาดทรายกว้างสุดลูกหูลูกตา สระน้ำส่วนตัวของผมหายไปหมด ระดับน้ำรุกประชิดถึงแนวสน เริ่มปะติดปะต่อได้แล้วว่า รอยพยานาคที่เห็นเมื่อวานมีที่มาอย่างไร เพราะชายหาดเหล่านั้นก็คือผืนทรายใต้ท้องทะเลนั่นเอง และลำธารสายเล็กก็กลายเป็นแม่น้ำกว้างขวางสมภาคภูมิ

The dark sea water that looked quite dirty yesterday now becomes crystal clear as emerald, decorated with continuous strips of white rippling waves.

ท้องน้ำสีเข้มดูสกปรกเมื่อวาน วันนี้เป็นสีเขียวมรกตสดใสตัดกับสีขาวของยอดคลื่นที่เคลื่อนตัวมาเป็นระลอก

2 meters difference between high and low tide, I have never seen such a big difference like this before.

น้ำขึ้นกับน้ำลง ระดับน้ำต่างกันถึง ๒ เมตร ไม่เคยเห็นผลลัพธ์ที่แตกต่างกันมากขนาดนี้มาก่อน

I've learned from this experience, 'time and tide wait for no one', but we have to wait for them.

ประสบการณ์ครั้งนี้สอนว่า 'เวลาและวารีไม่เคยรอใคร' แต่เราต้องรู้จักรอเขานะ
