Beyond the north end of Shwe Khunn Gyi Island, there is a small isolated island called Thit Hna Pin. This island should be an important navigator landmark since the ancient time. The crew tells me that its name means 'Tree' Island, some kind of tree. 

What I see, it should be 'treeless' island instead. 

นอกเกาะชเวจูง์จีไปทางเหนือ มีเกาะโดดเล็กๆ เกาะหนึ่ง ซึ่งน่าจะเป็นหมายในการเดินเรือสำคัญแต่โบราณ ชื่อว่า เกาะติอ์ฮาง์ปีง์ ลูกเรือบอกผมว่า ชื่อเกาะหมายถึงต้นไม้อะไรสักอย่าง

แต่ผมดูทรงแล้ว น่าจะชื่อ เกาะที่ไม่มีต้นไม้ มากกว่านะ

Next to the sand bar, there are rocky beaches on both islands, only rock, especially on the main island.

When we don't know the names of what we see either plant or animal near the sea, just put the word 'sea' in front of something we're familiar with on land.

The trees near the beach with many yellow flowers have heart-shaped leaves like the sacred fig. I guess their Thai name should be 'sea sacred fig' and I'm correct. Actually, they are portia trees and not related to sacred fig at all. 

ต้นไม้ดอกสีเหลืองเต็มต้นที่เห็นอยู่ริมหาดนี้ ใบรูปหัวใจเหมือนใบโพ ผมเดาว่า ชื่อ โพทะเล แล้วก็ถูกเสียด้วย แต่ความจริงต้นไม้ทั้งสองชนิดแทบไม่ได้เป็นญาติกันเลย

These swarming small insects on the sand and rocks are looked like cockroaches in my home kitchen. I guess their Thai name should be 'sea cockroaches', and I'm correct again. Actually, they are sea slaters or cockroaches, not insects but crustaceans like prawns.

แมลงตัวเล็กๆ ที่วิ่งอยู่ตามผืนทรายและโขดหินพวกนี้ รูปร่างเหมือนแมลงสาบในครัวบ้านผม เดาว่าต้องชื่อ แมลงสาบทะเล แน่ๆ แล้วก็เดาถูกอีก แต่ความจริงมันไม่ใช่แมลง แต่เป็นญาติกับกุ้ง

The tourist attraction of Shwe Khunn Gyi Island is the tombolo or sand bar connected the main island with a small island at the northwest side, the place where our lifeboat takes us ashore.

จุดเด่นทางการท่องเที่ยวของเกาะชเวจูง์จี คือ สันทรายที่เชื่อมจากตัวเกาะใหญ่ไปยังเกาะเล็กๆ ด้านทิศตะวันตกเฉียงเหนือ จุดที่เรือเล็กพาเราขึ้นฝั่ง

Climbing the rock at the south side of the beaches, I recall my experience at Nang Yuan Island in the Gulf of Thailand many years ago. Nang Yuan has three islands with two sand bars, but what is completely different from here is the crowded tourists at that time, not to mention the situation nowadays. 

So I chose to come here.


ตอนปีนโขดหินทางทิศใต้ของหาดแล้วมองลงไป ผมนึกถึงเกาะนางยวนในอ่าวไทยที่เคยไปมาเมื่อหลายปีก่อน หาดนางยวนมีสามเกาะสองสันทราย แต่ที่แตกต่างอย่างสิ้นเชิงคือจำนวนนักท่องเที่ยวที่หนาแน่นเหลือเกิน ถึงตอนนี้แทบไม่ต้องพูดถึง
